Bilateral gluteus medius tears

Findings
High grade tear of right gluteus medius tendon is seen with adjacent fluid and edema. Mild retraction of torn fibers is seen. Grade III fatty atrophy of right gluteus minimus and medius muscles seen.
Partial tear of left gluteus medius tendon is seen with surrounding edema. Grade I fatty atrophy of left gluteal muscles is seen.
Bilateral hip joints show marginal osteophytes, reduced joint spaces and mild marrow edema (R>L)
Degenerative partial tears are seen in the superolateral acetabular labrum bilaterally.
Diagnosis
• High grade tear of right gluteus medius tendon adjacent fluid and edema with mild retraction of torn fibers. Grade III fatty atrophy of right gluteus minimus and medius muscles seen.
• Partial tear of left gluteus medius tendon with surrounding edema. Grade I fatty atrophy of left gluteal muscles.
• Osteoarthritis bilateral hip joints (R>L).
• Degenerative partial tears in superolateral acetabular labrum bilaterally.
